Mornings are never fun. Who wants to wake up and climb out of their comfy, inviting bed and get ready to start their busy day? I know I don’t. I would stay in bed all day if I could. Darn my four kids and bills for crushing that fantasy. But there is one thing about mornings that I love. That’s checking my phone to see what sweet good morning message my boyfriend has sent.
That’s right, ladies. I’m a lucky woman. Even though my boyfriend wakes me up every morning to tell me bye before he leaves, he still sends me a message to read once I finally decide to join the land of the living.
Why Should You Send a Good Morning Text?
It only takes a few seconds to send a good morning text. But that one message can be enough to put a smile on someone’s face for the rest of the day. Having someone tell you good morning can change your whole attitude. You might have been irritable when you first opened your eyes. But after reading your good morning text, you’re ready to start the day with a whole new outlook.
Good morning texts are a great way to tell someone that they’re one of the first things you think about when you wake up. Or it could just be a casual interaction meant to inspire or amuse. You can use good morning texts for anyone: your partner, your crush, your children, or even just friends.
If you have a special someone that you want to say good morning to, we can help. We’ve put together this list of ways that you can brighten someone’s day with just a few simple words.

GM Messages for your Partner/Crush/Casual Dating
Now, not all of you may be in a serious relationship with one person. Maybe you have your eye on somebody you’ve been interested in but haven’t got to date yet. Or maybe you’re dating someone, but it hasn’t become a relationship. Then again, maybe you are in a relationship that’s going great, but you haven’t hit the serious phase yet.
Relationships develop on their own time schedule. You shouldn’t think that you have to reach certain milestones by a certain time. I’ve been in relationships that lasted five years without getting married, and I’ve had a marriage that only lasted 29 days (Don’t judge me. I was 18). And most recently, I served 11 years of punishment married to a man I only knew a few months before we started dating.
Just for the record, none of these men sent good morning messages. Now, look at what happened. But my current boyfriend, who has been the most amazing guy I’ve ever dated, does every morning. Even when we’re home together and I’m laying right next to him. Is it a deal-breaker that you don’t do good morning messages? No.
But does it help your relationship? Absolutely. Good morning messages can be a valuable tool to help keep your partner happy. It’s not the actual message that’s important. It’s more like an unspoken declaration that “Hey, you’re special to me. I’m a busy person, but I want you to know you’re on my mind.” Any of the following messages can be used for a crush, casual date, or even a lifelong partner.
- Seeing your smile is the best part of waking up.
- I hope your morning is as beautiful and amazing as you.
- I wish I were there to rise and shine with you. Good morning.
- I love waking up to you.
- You looked like Sleeping Beauty this morning.
- Waking up to you is the best part of my day.
- You make being late worth it.
Just a Sidenote
Pet names can be cute to use but be careful which ones you choose. Nicknames like “love”, “baby”, “darling” and “sweetheart” are typically used in more serious relationships. You’re not likely going to want to throw something like this into a message to a chick you just started talking to last week.
Names like “bae”, “sweetie”, “hun,” or “boo” are more casual. Using one of these in early communication might not get you on the no-response list as fast as the previously mentioned ones. However, everyone is different. Take your cues from the other person. If they’re okay with using random pet names, you might not have to put too much thought into what you use.
But if the other person only addresses you by your name, it might be best to hold off on the nicknames until your relationship is more established. If you do decide to toss in an endearment, make it a light one that can’t be misconstrued.
Good Morning Messages for Casual/Partner/Crush Continued
- Wish we woke up together. Good morning.
- Your face is the first thing I want to see before I start my day.
- Wake up! I can’t wait to start the rest of my life with you.
- Waking up to you is the best part of my day.
- Wake up and kiss me.
- You are the secret ingredient that makes my happy day. Rise and shine cutie pie. (You can also use this for your kids)
- I hope your morning is as beautiful and amazing as you (Can also be used for a daughter).
Good Morning Messages for your Crush/Casual Dating
As I said, we have a bit of everything for everyone. This is for those of you who haven’t gotten serious with the person you’re messaging. You might still be in the talking phase and haven’t even gone out on a date yet. That’s okay. Or maybe you’ve gone out on a few days, and you’re interested in taking things a step further.
A great way to get, and keep, someone, interested in going out with you is to put effort and thought into your conversations. Think about this for a minute. If you get a ton of messages every day, which one is going to catch your attention more? Mundane “Hey, how are you? What are you doing?” texts?
Or would you prefer to go out with someone who makes it a point to text you first thing in the morning, before they’ve even started their day? To me, it’s a no brainer. If someone is willing to put their coffee consumption on hold just so they can brighten your day with a good morning message, they’re already top of the lineup. For some of us, coffee is as essential as life.
- Hi handsome. How’d you sleep?
- Morning good looking.
- Morning greetings cutie.
- I crave you more than coffee.
- You’re so beautiful when you wake up. Good morning.
- Good morning sexy.
- Good morning. My dog misses you. And so do I.
Keep It Light
If you’re not in a serious relationship, keep the messages light and flirty. It’s okay to say that you miss them or that you’ve dreamed of them. This can make your crush feel special. But don’t start proclaiming your undying love. And for the love of God, don’t mention a dream about you getting married and having six kids if you’ve only been talking for a week. Unless it had a hilarious twist like it was the man that got pregnant.
A good morning message is meant to make the other person smile and feel good. Don’t pose a serious philosophical question. Don’t ask where they see your relationship going. Keep your messages focused on saying good morning. You’re just trying to make sure they know they’re on your mind.

Corny Good Morning Messages
Using a cheesy or corny message can be a gamble. Not everyone appreciates the humor. These are people I avoid. Life is too depressing to be stressing about stupid stuff like a joke. (Yes, I did quote Kevin Gates and altered it just a little to fit my purposes. You’re welcome.)
If your conversations have been serious up to this point, you may want to give serious consideration before you start acting like a corndog. I personally love it more when my boyfriend says goofy stuff. It shows he’s comfortable enough with me to be playful without worrying that I’ll think he’s an idiot.
Some of the stuff is so lame that I call him out on it, but I do it in good fun. Nothing is sexier than a sense of humor. If you can make your crush or partner laugh, you’re halfway to making them fall madly in love with you. He has even used one or two on this list. We’re still going strong and happier than ever.
- I’m not a morning person. But, I am a you person. So now I enjoy getting up to be with you.
- Am I still dreaming? Or do you really look this amazing in the morning?
- You’re all the sunshine I need. Good morning.
- Morning good looking. Whatcha got cooking? (Yeah, some of you may know this is a song but who wouldn’t love a partner who quotes Jimmy Buffet first thing in the morning?)
- Have you seen my reason for waking up? Never mind. You’re right here.
- Wide awake and feeling great, thanks to you.
- Who needs Folgers when I have you?
Good Morning Messages for Children
Raising children is hard work. Especially when it’s time to get them up and ready to start the day. Teenagers are the scariest to wake up. I keep my neck covered and stay at a safe distance away as I poke my teenage daughter with a stick to get her up in the mornings.
As a parent, you should consider it a vital part of your job to make sure your children feel special and loved every day. And if you can embarrass them just a bit, hey that’s the icing on the cake. It’s a valuable life lesson every child should learn. Life is more fun when you’re not always serious. Try some of these good morning lines with your kid.
- Sing “You are my Sunshine”.
- Good morning Sleeping Beauty.
- Morning Prince Charming.
- It’s alive! Run for the hills.
- Good morning sunshine.
- Welcome to the land of the living.
- Rise -n- shine.
Good Morning Messages for your Friends
We’ve all got that one best friend who we talk to at least once a week. Chances are, you’ll be talking early in the morning before the day has gotten too out of control. My friends and I like to talk first thing in the AM when we’re making plans. But there are times when one of us misses the agreed to time.
So, we need to send a wake-up text for them to see when they finally decide to come around. Just for the record, I’m usually the one who is behind schedule. Four kids, remember? My friends already know I could make running late be a job because I’m so good at it. But they still love me anyway. And they’ve sent me messages like this a time or two.
- Rise and shine lovely.
- Buenas Dias senorita.
- Wake up! What are we doing today?
- The rooster is crowing. Time to get up. (You can also say this to your kids)
- Good morning and many more to come.
- Time to rise and shine.
- Wishing you the morning you deserve.
Be Creative and Make it Work for You
Saying good morning to someone is a great way to let them know they’re on your mind. One little sentence can change their entire day. There are very few people who don’t appreciate the thoughtfulness and consideration that go into a good morning message. There’s really nothing to lose by sending one.
Show the people you care about often they cross your thoughts. They might surprise you by sending you one in return. Then you could spend the rest of the day smiling together. It could become something you could look forward to each morning when you open your eyes. Some of us do need more motivation to wake up than others.
