We’ve created a “Desperate Measures Award” for the Summer of 2012. This award will be given to an individual who has demonstrated the most desperate measure(s) to obtain or retain a relationship, whether it be a working relationship, a friendship, a family relationship, or a romantic liaison.
For example, here is one of our favorites:
Terry Barton: In 2002, this U.S. forest technician claimed to burn love letters in a campfire, however the campfire stones had been moved so that that the fire escaped. It was claimed by some that she started the fire to be a “hero” in order to be the first responder who would extinguish the first in order to possibly save her marriage. Unfortunately, she was prosecuted for intentionally starting the largest forest fire in the State of Colorado’s history, with the fire burning more than 138,000 acres (558 km). Her marriage did not survive.
We are seeking nominations from you! We are looking for examples from the news, popular media, and celebrity stories; find a person who you think went to extreme and desperate measures to get or keep a relationship. Self nominations are encouraged 🙂
We will select the top 5 submissions and then have a poll later this summer so that you can select the winner.
